Cyclops 95

Cyclops is a group of independent photographers in Birmingham, England, formed in 1991 to promote their work mutually. They have sought outside support for their exhibitions and publications, but have also taken the brave step of having their own work selected by outside judges.

Their latest venture has been a high-quality color book of their work, to accompany an exhibition. The book Cyclops 95 was sent out to advertising art directors and other interested in commissioning work. Eighty images were chosen by their judging panel, from a shortlist of 129. Organiser Steve Vernon-Clarke says that the book has already been responsible for several commissions.

Several of the photographers featured are represented by Shooting Stills, an Arts Council funded organisation that assists experimental and minority group photographers.
