Qualification Structure

One of out most important introductions was the assesment of members' work leading to the award of our own qualifications; a structure unique among photographic organisations, in that our method of assessment enables us to positively recommend Craftsmen in Wedding Photography to readers of the bridal press who follow up editorial mentions of the Guild.

Unlike other organisations, we seek to examine not specially prepared pictures but ordinary sets of proofs or previews and finished albums.

You do not have to guess which grade of membership you are at. You simply submit the requested amount of work and the assessors will tell you whether you have reached Certificated level, Craftsman, or Craftsman with Distinction. The qualifications are not automatically awarded because you have reached distinction elsewhere. There is only one way they can be achieved - by submission of samples of your everyday work.

This may sound tough. It is not really; is merely requires application. The Guild is beneficial to all members, but the qualification program is a special bonus for those with extra determination who wish to enjoy even greater success.

If you photograph weddings seriously you really cannot afford not to be a member. If you do nothing else but read the monthly mailings you will gain considerably; if you attend seminars, enter competitions and seek qualifications in addition, your name will join those you currently admire.

We have been photographing weddings ourselves for over thirty years and still do so most weeks; we have been teaching and assessing others for over twenty years, not only in the UK but in Europe, North America and New Zealand. Now we are privileged to lead Guild members forward to a most satisfying and rewarding occupation.
