Photographic Salons and Open Exhibitions

PHOTON will carry a full section with entry dates, conditions and submission addresses for all the major international salons of photography. This data is under preparation for our March launch issue.

The Golden International Photosalon 1995

The Golden Salon was introduced in 1983, and is the only international photo salon in Denmark (and, indeed, in the whole of Scandinavia) which enjoys FIAP approval. This salon receives around 2-3,000 monochrome entries and 1-1,300 color slides, from c. 900-1,100 photographers, mostly Danish but including up to 50 countries of origin. Gold, Silver and Bronze FIAP medals are awarded in all categories, as well as similar medals from SDF (Society of Danish Photography) for mono and color prints. There are several other special awards.
Entry fees are US$8 for one category, US$6 per additional category, but must be cashable without incurring fees (e.g. drawn on a Danish bank or provided as a money order). You may enter four photographs per category. Maximum print size is 11 x 15 inches, and in common with all salons under FIAP rules, prints should be on plain mountboards, never framed or on heavy materials. A feature outlining the best method for print mounting for salons appears in Photo Club News No 1, along with many typical examples of FIAP exhibition acceptances.
The closing date in August 5th 1995. For details, and entry forms, telephone the chairman, Freddie Hansen, on (+45) 53 73 18 51 or write Freddie Hansen, Horsebjergvej 14, DK-4700 Naestved.
