Cromatek Hood and Filter System

The Cromatek Professional Lenshood (Shade) and Filter Holder is a British product which has developed over the years from the original Cromatek filters devised by the well-known photographer and lecturer Ron Stillwell. The first Cromatek system was a hinged-front box with several slots, accepting resin filters mounted in a plastic rim. These were almost all intended for the social photographer shooting weddings and portraits.

Today, the system is manufactured by Lastolite Limited, and uses a versatile well-made pro bellows shade with the original matte box at its rear. The price of the shade is far lower than 'marque' bellows lens hoods for medium-format cameras. An extra slot has been added to accept Cokin P size filters and sliding graduates. There are 3 slots for 76mm mounted Cromatek filters, now made in a wide range of commercial effect and light-balancing types as well as soft focus etc, and 3 thin slots for gels or mattes.

System compatibility is claimed for Cokin A and P, Ambico, Hoyarex and SRB filters. An enlarger adaptor and filter holder (without bellows) allows the filters to be used for color printing effects.
