Cameracraft is about to complete the first year of publications, 176 pages and four issues. Activating the subscriber forum has been kept on the back burner as subscription numbers have grown, and also, as we reach the point where all subscribers have paid since the launch of the magazine and provided email addresses.
At the launch of the web pages, we installed phpBB3 but this was not activated. Without even having a single forum, it was subject to over 6000 spam or malicious registrations. We’ve tried several forum alternatives and for the moment, the simplest is this bbPress which adds to the WordPress pages of the site.
The Charter of Founder Subscriber Card is another issue we’re still trying to get right. The intention was the make something useful but the production process for card like this turned out to be based on dye sublimation technology we are very familiar with – along with its limitations. The cards will be produced and they will go to readers, and they will have function – not just a membership card – but getting the print quality we need for that function (wait and see) is far from easy!
